Devices, Technology

With the emergence of many mobile devices, these have been invented for people on the go, bringing work anywhere they want to. Before the main purpose of mobile devices were for people who travel frequently, and my guess, most of the time, these are top company administrators or sales executives or top notch businessmen that want to stay in the loop of their business transactions even if away from the computer.

But with all the convenience of these wireless products, there has been a nice twist to mobility in being mobile within your own home. Staying in one position all day is tiring already, changing positions and locations within your work area can sometimes make you even more productive.

If you work all the time in front of a computer, if would be nice if you can also move all around your house if you work at home. If you have a home-based business that requires you to be in front of the computer all the time, I suggest you try setting up your own mobile office setup. What you want to do is being able to work anywhere inside your home, depending on how you feel, how your mood is for the day. Want to work in the porch, in the garage, on the lawn, in the living room in front of the TV, or while having breakfast. Sometimes to get the job done, you just need the perfect work environment. And to be able to do that, you need the perfect setup for it.

Your Computer:

Apple iBookDepending on the type of work you do, it will depend on how powerful your laptop should be. If you need great power in small packages, an iBook can be perfect for you, and you can get an iBook for less than $1000. Whatever notebook computer you decide to get, make sure it has a Wireless G Wifi Adapter, either built-in (preferred) or as an add-on like a PCMCIA card or USB Wifi Adapter.

Your Router:

Linksys Wireless G RouterYou will need a wireless router to go all over the place at home so your laptop can connect to the Internet wherever you are inside your home or office. And it is not that expensive to buy, you can get a Linksys Wireless Router for less than $50 bucks. But before buying one, ask your ISP about it since some have free Wifi routers within their connection package. You will want a fast connection like cable or DSL. My connection is a DSL connection via AT&T (Yahoo-SBC) and during the time I signed up, I just added $35 one-time payment to get a good DSL model with Wifi Router built-in.

Your Mobile Desk:

You have to take note that you will be in different chairs, different positions, all over the house without any complication on setting up your table, and I love the Table Mate TV Tray for this purpose. Easy to fold, keep, move around with adjustable heights. On TV, I found it sold at a price near $30 bucks, but it is always better to shop online, and I got my Table Mate TV Tray for $24.95 from here: http://www.tvproducts4less.com/table-mate-2.html.

That’s it! You got the perfect in-house mobile setup. If you wish to push this a bit further, you might want to consider having a desktop running in your room that is also connected to your router. It can be connected to your MP3 files, all your data files, your printer and other stuff you can access from your mobile laptop.
