I never really got into the RPG games of today. They just take to long to play that I do not have the luxury of time to play with some games that seem to take forever to play. I was born in the 70′s so my video game age was in the 80′s. Yeah, Atari 2600, that was my game. I could play Missle Command all day with the score going back to zero after it reaches 1 million. Pacman was still an all-time favorite. I still remember most of the games I played, Pole Position, River Raid, Defender, Galaxian and Space Invaders, Centipede and Millipede, Pit Fall, Moonsweeper, Empire Strikes Back, Yar’s Revenge, Battlezone, Breakout and Breakaway, Combat, Indy 500, River Raid and a lot more.
Atari 2600 was out, Nintendo Family Computer was in
Just when the Atari 5200 was just trying to replace the Atari 2600, here comes Nintendo’s Family Computer. As Nintendo graduated from the plain Game & Watch games adn started to compete in the home video game consoles, this was also the start of the launch of one of the most successful and popular video game ever created, Mario! And if you really know your video game history, I know Mario just started as a character in Nintendo’s Game & Watch game Donkey Kong, where Mario tries to save his girl from this barrel throwing, King Kong inspired oversized gorilla. Donkey Kong Jr. came our and Mario became the enemy where Donkey Kong Jr. had to Donkey Kong from the cage and chains of Mario. I even had a game Mario bombs away where Mario had to move this bombs before the explode. It had some army kind of theme. But with the birth of the Nintendo Family Computer, Mario became this guy running in some fantasy land with a bunch of obstacles, enemies and ways to score and get more special powers while running all over the place.
Sony Playstation killed them all
Oldschool games still exist in the Playstation and I guess one of the most popular ones is Street Fighter. Even if Mortal Combat came out and the 3D VirtuaFighter and Tekken started to emerge, there were still many loyal Street Fighter fans.
I want to play arcade games!
I don’t know what it is with the new games but they take so long to play. Nice graphics but just too long to play. I’d like to play games that are fast pace, reflex-based and so hard that you die right away so the game ends easily. But some oldschool game consoles no longer exist, so whenever I want to play some game that is not like the games of today, I would go to Excessively Free Games. It serves as a good break from working long hours straight. Breaks the monotony, and when your are gone, just go back to working again.
